Abstract: With the development of Chinese shoemaking industry, China is developing from a big shoemaking country to a powerful one, and this process is also a process of plagiarism→imitation→originality→leading for the design of sports shoes. In the process of original and leading design of sports shoes, the application of traditional cultural elements plays an important role. Especially, clothing and shoes are close relatives, and there are many design elements to refer to. China is a multi-ethnic country with many ethnic costumes, among which Tibetan costume is one of the most representative traditional costumes. This paper focused on the color, jewelry, material and shape of Tibetan costumes, explored their application in the design of sports shoes, and demonstrated how to apply Tibetan costume elements to the design of sports shoes through some design cases. The application and development of traditional clothing elements in sports shoe design were also discussed.
