Abstract: The recycling of solid leather waste involves environmental protection and resource utilization issues. Leather solid waste contains heavy metal chromium, so its recycling is restricted. The reported researchresults on the recycling of chromium-containing solid waste have obvious problems when they are put into technical application. This paper reviews the treatment methods of chromium-containing waste and their utilization status in electrostatic flocking, rubber and plastic fillers, adsorbents and protein fillers, and some of the related issues that need to be addressed in the recycling, including the chromium content of extracted collagen, the utilization rate of solidwaste and the occurrence of secondary pollution.
