Guidelines for Submission
The official website of Leather Science and Engineering (http://www.scupgkg.cn/) is the only channel for submission of manuscripts. Before submission, authors are advised to carefully read the following submission guidelines:
1. Preparation for Submission
1) Manuscript Content: Manuscripts should align with the journal's scope, present clear arguments, demonstrate innovation, provide reliable data, use concise language, have clear figures and tables, and maintain rigorous logic.
2) Manuscript Format: The journal accepts Word document submissions only. The total word count of a manuscript should not exceed 8,000 words, and the number of figures and tables should be less than 8. The resolution of images should be at least 600 dpi. Appendices and Acknowledgments are not required.
3) Writing Requirements: Please refer to the "Manuscript Template" available on the Download page. Authors must strictly adhere to the template and provide complete information to avoid rejection.
4) Repetition Rate: The repetition rate should not exceed 15%. Manuscripts that fail to meet this requirement will be rejected. The journal conducts the first round of plagiarism check during the initial review stage and a second round of check before publication. The plagiarism detection system used is the Academic Misconduct Literature Check System (AMLC) developed by China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI).
5) Academic Standards: Authors should adhere to academic ethics and standards. When citing the research results of others, authors must provide proper attribution in accordance with the Copyright Law. If the manuscript contains copyrighted material, necessary permissions for the use must be obtained. Academic misconduct, such as duplicate submissions, plagiarism, and fabrication of data, is strictly prohibited. Any such misconduct will be handled seriously, including immediate rejection of the manuscript, notification of the author's institution and other journals in the field, and ineligibility for future submissions by the author(s).
2. Review Process
1) Initial Review: Each manuscript undergoes an initial review by the journal's editorial office to evaluate whether it meets the journal's aims and scope, whether its overall structure is complete, and whether there is any academic misconduct. If the manuscript does not pass the initial review, authors are usually notified within 7 days.
2) Peer Review: After passing the initial review, manuscripts are typically sent to 2~3 experts for peer review (a double-blind review). The peer review process takes about 30 days. The experts will review the manuscript for its innovation and significance, soundness of the experimental design, presence of analysis supporting the conclusions, clarity of the written description, accuracy and completeness of the references, etc., and the experts will provide their suggestions on whether to accept the manuscript. The experts' review comments will be checked by the editorial office and then sent to the author. If revisions to the manuscript are required, the author must respond to the review comments and submit a revised version. To ensure the academic quality of the journal, some manuscripts may undergo multiple rounds of peer review.
3) Secondary Review: The Deputy Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor will review whether the author has made appropriate changes to the manuscript according to the review comments and whether the revised manuscript meets the journal's publication standards. After review, the editor will make a recommendation on whether to accept the manuscript.
4) Final Review: The Editor-in-Chief conducts the final review and makes the final decision on acceptance. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for both the final quality control of all articles and the content of the entire journal.
In addition, manuscripts submitted by the journal's editors and Editorial Board Members (EBMs) follow the same review process outlined above. The review process will be conducted independently from the relevant editors, EBMs, and their research teams. Editors and EBMs are prohibited from participating in the review process of their own manuscripts, manuscripts of their family members, colleagues, or authors with who they have a conflict of interest.
3. Acceptance and Publication
1) Acceptance & Charge of Publication Fee: Once an article is accepted, the editorial office will promptly send a notice of acceptance and publication fee to the author. After receiving the publication fee, the editorial office will arrange the article for publication. The journal only charges the publication fee, which is CNY600 per page. The number of pages will be counted according to the published version of the article. The Editorial Board Members of the journal would receive a 40% discount, and authors affiliated with the journal's sponsor can publish free of charge.
2) Copyright Transfer: For accepted articles, authors are required to sign the "Copyright Transfer Agreement". Under this agreement, authors transfer the copyright of the entire article and its attachments, including but not limited to the rights of reproduction, distribution, information network dissemination, broadcast, performance, translation, compilation and adaptation, to the editorial office of Leather Science and Engineering. The transfer takes place on a worldwide basis and is free of charge. After publication, the copyright belongs to the journal's editorial office, but the author(s) of the article have the right to use the article under the CC BY-NC-ND
4.0 license.
3) Proofreading: Once the accepted manuscripts are typeset, proofs will be sent to the authors. The principle is to mainly correct typesetting errors, and generally, significant changes are not allowed to be made.
4) Publication: After an article is published, the journal will present the authors with two copies of the issue in which their work appears. In addition, the journal has signed agreements for digital publishing, CD-ROM publishing, and priority publishing with organizations such as the China Academic Journals (CD Edition) Electronic Publishing House (http://www.cnki.net). If you do not consent to your article being digitally published, published on CD-ROM, or given priority publication on the databases and platforms of the aforementioned organizations, please declare this during submission, and we will make appropriate arrangements.
4. Other Information
1) Appeals: If authors have objections to the review comments or results, they can submit a written appeal to the journal. The appeal should provide detailed explanations and be sent to the journal's email. The editorial office will review the appeal as soon as possible and provide feedback to the author. Please note that generally only one appeal per manuscript is accepted.
2) Repetition Self-Check: The journal requires that the repetition rate of articles does not exceed 15%. We advise authors to conduct a self-check of their article's similarity rate through the journal's official website before submission. When submitting the manuscripts, authors are required to also submit a plagiarism detection report confirming that the manuscript's similarity rate does not exceed 15%. Considering the risk of paper and research leakage when authors use external channels for plagiarism checks, the journal has partnered with Wanfang Data to provide a plagiarism self-check service through the Wanfang detection system (http://scupgkg.wanfangtech.net). The plagiarism self-check service through the Wanfang detection system is a third-party service; if authors have any queries, they may contact the service provider directly (QQ: 800856851).
Note: The results of plagiarism self-check through the Wanfang detection system are for the authors' reference only. Whether the article's similarity rate meets the journal's requirements will be determined based on the checks conducted by the journal's editorial office.
