Abstract: Light industry is undergoing a strategic transformation from "whether or not" to "good" and from "quantity expansion" to "high quality development". In order to realize the transformation and upgrading of China's light industry, we must constantly improve the innovation ability of China's light industry enterprises, attach more importance to the important role of intellectual property rights in the major form of patents. Intellectual property is the core element and "new engine" of enterprise transformation and upgrading. It is the "unavoidable barrier" for light industry to move from middle, low-end to middle, and high-end. It is also the "golden key" to open the door of light industry transformation. This paper reviews the status of innovation-driven development of light industry in China, analyses the existing problems and influencing factors in the development of light industry. Then it puts forward the intellectual property paths, which promoting the transformation and upgrading of light industry from the perspectives of intellectual property strategy formulation, industry patent layout analysis, enterprise intellectual property standards and navigation, cultivation of high-value patents, and construction of intellectual property protection system, etc. This paper puts forward practical suggestions for the transformation and upgrading of China's light industry.
