Technical Analysis of Footwear Qualitative Test Method to Assess Antifungal Activity (Growth Test):Based on ISO 19574 Establishment and International Round Robin Test

  • No matter the mildewing of footwear during the transportation and storage, or the microbial infectious diseases of feet during footwear wearing, these problems are closely related to microorganisms, especially fungi. Due to the intuitive advantages of qualitative analysis, it is necessary to establish an ISO standard antifungal qualitative test method of footwear. Based on the establishment process and round robin tests, this paper analyzed the raw materials of footwear, footwear wearing situation, foot fungi character, and the existing qualitative test methods of antifungal, and explained the strains used, the mixing mode of strains, the key test procedures such as culture medium and test result expression specified in ISO 19574. This paper also gave the technical analysis by combining the practice of round robin tests. The ISO 19574 Footwear and Footwear Component Qualitative Test Method to Assess Antifungal Activity (Growth Test) can be implemented and used in global footwear industry and other relative industries.
