The Innovative Design and Application of Dunhuang Caisson Patterns in Modern Female Handbag

The Dunhuang caisson is rich in content and exquisite in decoration,which is the essence of Dunhuang pattern. It is not only the artistic highlight of Dunhuang culture, but also has high value of artistic appreciation and application .From the perspective of design,the typical feature of caisson pattern is analyzed and the initial graphic unit is extracted by using modern design methods. Then the shape grammar is used to reconstruct the extracted graphic units to generate innovative derivative schemes. Combined with the aesthetic cognition of modern female consumers,the innovative derivative schemes are applied to the innovative design of modern female handbags with different styles,so that the products not only conform to the aesthetic cognition of modern women, but also have national characteristics and cultural connotation. On one hand, this research is conducive to the protection and inheritance of Dunhuang caisson culture, on the other hand, it can also provide a method reference for other traditional pattern and decoration in the innovative application of female bags.
