GC-MS Determination of 2-Phenyl-2-propanol inFootwear Materials

  • The content of 2-phenyl-2-propanol in footwear materials was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Using methyl t-butyl ether as the solvent, ultrasonic treatment was conducted at room temperature to extract 2-phenyl-2-propanol from footwear materials. The GC-MS analysis was then carried out, and the quantitative tests were conducted by external standard method. Results show that, when the range of determination was 0.05~10 mg/L, the quantitation limit of 2-phenyl-2-propanol was 1.0 mg/kg, and the spiked average recoveries ranged from 90% to 102%, while the relative standard deviation (RSD) is less than 4.0% (n = 6). The present method is accurate and suitable for the determination of 2-phenyl-2-propanol in footwear materials.
