The New Trend of Leather Goods Design under the Background of "Dual Carbon"

  • As an important strategy in the new era of China, the "dual carbon" policy plays an important role in promoting low-carbon development in leather goods design. By analyzing and summarizing the current design trend of leather goods, the formation of a new development model for leather goods industry could be further promoted. A total of 714 pieces of literature related to low-carbon leather goods design were retrieved from American Chemical Society, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases (2019–2024) by systematic evaluation and analysis method, and 18 of them were finally included and analyzed according to screening criteria. The results show that the changes in the design reform of leather goods under the background of "double carbon" mainly focus on two aspects: materials and preparation processes and design concepts. The former achieves the role of carbon reduction and green increase mainly through chemicals’ research and development, cleaner production, biomass materials selection, production and application of synthetic leather. The latter pays more attention to integrating functionality and practicality, adopts digital intelligence technology to improve efficiency, and attaches importance to recycling resources. This conclusion provides a reference for the leather goods design industry to achieve the goal of low-carbon upgrading.
