Abstract: Environmental friendly fluorocarbon surfactants, serving as substitutes of PFOS and PFOA, produces great significance to sustainable development of human society. In this paper, the synthesis methods and research progress of environmental friendly fluorocarbon surfactants are reviewed involving in single hydrophilic head and single hydrophobic tail, single hydrophilic head and double hydrophobic tails, double hydrophilic heads and single hydrophobic tail, double hydrophilic heads and double hydrophobic tails. Their application in leather, petroleum and firefighting fields are summarized, and the future development of direction is prospected.
