Abstract: Influenced by geographical environment and cultural differences, shadow play art has evolved many regional genre characteristics, showing both regional differences and correlations. There is a strong correlation between Chengdu shadow and Weinan shadow in terms of their historical origins.The thesis provides a scientific and objective comparative analysis of the historical origins of Chengdu shadow and Weinan shadow, the commonality and individuality of modeling art and costume features, and the innovation of pattern extraction, and provides theoretical support for the integration and innovation of regional shadow elements with modern costume design.By analyzing the shapes of shadow puppets in two places, we summarize the visual elements that can be referred to in shadow puppets, hoping to promote the development of traditional shadow and modern costume design.
