Abstract: The difference and connection between genuine leather and microfiber synthetic material are summarized. The modification methods to improve the softness of microfiber synthetic material base are reviewed, including softener modification, fatliquor modification, production process modification, fiber composite modification, and other modification methods. The purpose of this review is to provide reference for the subsequent research of microfiber synthetic material softening modification through the summarization and instruction to the softening modification methods of microfiber synthetic material base.
