Abstract: Based on the present situation that the armor-related cultural activities and the slow-paced hand-made leather goods become more and more people's needs and favor.And the design and the partial creation of the contemporary armor decoration were carried out based on leather sculpture techniques. Firstly, the origin and characteristics of hand-made leather goods, leather sculpture techniques were analyzed briefly, then the evolution of armor material, general development course and armor function in ancient China were studied and discussed. Based on the above research, the design and practical creation of contemporary armour decoration were carried out. The whole process includes the analysis of armor decoration parts, the design of decorative patterns and the creation of armor decoration, based on leather sculpture. In order to provide artistic surprise and scheme reference for the people, such as the inheritance and protection of armor culture, the creation of hand-made leather art, film and television shooting, the design and modeling of animation characters, the design of clothing and clothing products and the collection of hobbies, etc.,the formation of relevant cultural circles and the atmosphere of activities provides support.
