Abstract:
The thermal denaturation of type I collagen was studied by circular dichroism (CD), polarimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), ultrasensitive microcalorimetry (US-DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results indicated that the above methods were the powerful tools to study the thermal denaturation of collagen. The process of thermal denaturation of collagen in solution could be monitored by CD, polarimetry and US-DSC. And the thermal denaturation of solid state collagen could be detected qualitatively by FTIR and XRD. Among them, US-DSC and CD were more sensitive than other methods. The results will provide a theoretical basis for the related research of collagen.
