Abstract: Postgraduate education is responsible for cultivating high-level talents with innovative ability and entrepreneurial spirit. To achieve high-quality postgraduate education, the quality of students is one of the key factors. Taking the Light Industry and Engineering discipline of Sichuan University as an example, this paper analyzes the discipline background and enrollment status. The Light Industry and Engineering of Sichuan University is one of the most influential disciplines in China, however, comprehensive analysis of the recent postgraduate enrollment data shows that there is still a lot of room for improvement of the enrollment, particularly in the recommended exemption field. Based on the external and internal environment of the discipline, three suggestions were put forward, which are strengthening construction of the publicity network and new media platform, the propaganda of summer camp activities for excellent college students and organize special postgraduate recruitment consultation activities precisely. Through the above measures, a virtuous circle of postgraduate enrollment publicity will be formed gradually, which lays a foundation for the promotion of the soft power and cultural appeal of the discipline, and provides a good source of students for the light industry science and technology discipline of Sichuan University.
