Abstract:
In order to solve the problem of the defects of leather properties caused by the oxidation of soybean phospholipid fatliquor, the effects of five antioxidants, including propyl gallate (PG), tert butyl-4-hydroxyanisole (BHA), tert butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), tocopherol (VE) and 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (BHT), on the odor, surface color(yellow), hexavalent chromium content and softness of leathers with phospholipid fatliquor after storage, dry / wet heat and light treatment were investigated. The results showed that all the five antioxidants could improve the comprehensive properties of fatliquored leather, especially PG and BHA. When these two antioxidants were 3% (based on fatliquor weight), the problems such as odor, over standard hexavalent chromium, yellowing and softness degradation of fatliquored leather could be solved. However, with the increase of dosage, the yellowing resistance of leather decreased due to the yellowing of antioxidants.
